"The Chesapeake"
Description / Condition:
1957 Trumpy 60' Houseboat
Restoration Project - A Work In Progress
This vessel was designed and built by the Trumpy shipyard in 1957. In 2013 an article was written in a boating magazine that stated less than 70 Trumpy Yachts out of a total of more than 400 built are still ii operating condition.
This 1957 Trumpy 59' houseboat is ready to be restored
The current owner bought "Chesapeake" in 2009. He did major renovations including a new generator, one rebuilt transmission, extensive wood replacement, new copper counter tops in the galley, SAT/TV along with a keel replacement in 2014. She was used primarily for his marina marketing program, traveling from the Chesapeake Bay to Florida yearly. "Chesapeake" came from Maryland in 2016 to the middle of the North Carolina coast on its own power with all the systems working. The proposed renovations were not completed as planned and then nothing was done for the last few years. Due to the conditions at hand many areas are now in need of major attention. We don't have a current survey to provide you. The last survey was done in 2009 which is no longer relevant.
Owner states that the engines should still be operational. All soft goods such as cushions and mattresses were disposed of as the vessel was not protected from the high humidity that descends on us every spring and summer.
Pre owned 1957 Trumpy Houseboat named the "Chesapeake" is located in Jarrett Bay Beaufort, North Carolina. "Chesapeake" is in a marine industrial park and the boatyard where she is located can provide al the needed mechanics and craftsmen to get "Chesapeake" back on the water. "Chesapeake" was very carefully cleaned with in the last month
